Meet Bo Lanter
Bo Lanter learned an entrepreneurial spirit through an early commitment to excellence in sports – reinforced by his family and his education. He is a father to three children: Tod (32), Kyndall (29), & Baylee (23), and a husband to his devoted wife, Joy Gay.
Bo’s childhood dream was to play basketball for the University of Kentucky Wildcats where he earned a full scholarship after the 1978 national title season – ironically, much like his son Tod would later do in 2012-13. Bo, while playing basketball under Coach Joe B. Hall, graduated with a bachelor degree of business in 1982. He played with the likes of Kyle Macy, Sam Bowie, and Dirk Minniefield and played against Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Domonique Wilkins to name a few.
His first venture into entrepreneurship started right after graduation, as co-owner of the Starpath Corporation, which grew into one of the largest satellite distribution firms in the country. When the company was sold, he created opportunities in the intellectual properties industry and began developing products, patents, trademarks, and business concepts. He worked with start-up companies, high profile venture capitalist groups, multi-media outlets, national infomercial campaigns, etc., in creating demand and growth. Other endeavors include commercial real estate and National Advancement Director and Major Gifts Officer for a non-profit that worked with abused kids. The beliefs and goals of this faith-based non-profit organization go hand-in-hand with the values that Bo has used to build his life. Later in life Bo partnered with Big South Restoration and Smart Choice Partners to assist in their growth and expansion. Through life, Bo’s always believed in strong values and morals. When you read the F5 STRONG Hang Tag and review the product, it is a “summary” of trying to LIVE your life in a Faith based, Healthy way, surrounded by people that provide a positive impact in your life so together we can help others!
Meet Tod Lanter
Tod Lanter was born in February of 1991 to ex-Wildcat Bo Lanter and his wife Joy, in Lexington, Kentucky – the heart of the Big Blue Nation. Like every young boy who picks up a basketball in the state of Kentucky, Tod’s dream was to play for the Wildcats. As Kentucky’s elite program grew to become even more of a powerhouse on the hardwood, his task seemed all the more daunting – fueling his ambition. After graduating high school, he made the difficult decision to leave Lexington to play junior college ball in Panama City Beach, FL, in hopes of the opportunity to return to the Bluegrass, and the right to his own blue and white jersey.
After Kentucky won its eighth national title, and first under Hall of Fame Coach John Calipari, Tod indeed earned that chance. He joined the team for the 2012-13 season and graduated in the spring of 2015 after making his second Final Four appearance in as many years. As a team, Tod and the Wildcats had spectacular on-court success. Kentucky set an NCAA record for the best start in college basketball history, entering the 2015 Final Four unscathed at a perfect 38-0. Tod is a SEC Tournament Champion, an SEC Regular Season Champion, and a two-time NCAA Midwest Regional Champion. But perhaps his highest honor was earning a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business, as well as a minor in communications, all while remaining a member of the All-SEC Academic Honor Roll every semester during his tenure as a Wildcat.
Tod enjoys serving in the community through volunteer work such as the God’s Pantry Backpack Program, hosting a Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund Telethon at a local news station, participating in the Samaritan’s Feet Project, and visiting local hospitals. Tod was a regular at the team’s chapel meetings every week and often seeks advice from Pastor Max Appel, who remains a close friend and mentor.
Tod’s drive and determination on and off the basketball court, coupled with strength, commitment, and a belief in teamwork, are important values he utilizes in his approach to daily life, and whatever task is at hand. As he steps into his professional career he is approaching his future with the same resolve towards excellence, while humbly serving those around him and providing the much needed “assist” we all need to reach our full potential – maybe not the NBA, but certainly an MVP in this thing we call life.
Tod is the older brother to two sisters, Kyndall (29), and Baylee (23). Kyndall is a senior attending the University of Southern Mississippi on a soccer scholarship, and Baylee is a sophomore at her older siblings alma mater, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington. She also plans to accept an athletic scholarship at the collegiate level.
Tod’s approach to everyday life is centered around the values rooted in the very foundation of the F5 Strong concept: Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness, & Fun; these are the necessities to living a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. His goal for the F5 Strong brand is just as their mission statement says: to act as a simple reminder to stay positive and remember what is truly important.
